General Notations
Language Notations
- LTE. is used for Lautěo-ee words.
- SLL. is used for Sallóxe words.
- B. or BVN. are used for Bheνowń words.Assume Bheνowń words are in the standard(Todawuν) dialect, unless specified otherwise:
- W. is used for Wasjēƣ dialect.
- G. is used for Gakaμ dialect.
- TW. is used for Twac̊in̊ words.
- † is used for archaic or poetic words.
- ✦ marks roots and word forms from earlier forms of a language.
- Language markers are omitted from lists and discussions of specific languages or dialects.
Derivation Notation
- < or > indicate a form that developed etymologically from an older form
- ← or → indicate a form derived grammatically from another form
- ⇐ or ⇒ indicate a word composed of other words as elements
Phonetic Notations
- [brackets] mark phonetic descriptions in IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) notation. This may also note any allomorphs within the language
- single /slashes/ mark phonemes as part of a sound system, and may encompass multiple allomorphs
- double ⫽slashes⫽ mark diaphonemes
